Desert Island Websites

Nick at Literary Compass has asked the question: If you were stranded on a desert island with a laptop and a satellite internet connection that could only access five websites, which would you choose? Here are my choices:

  1. Pressdisplay: To keep up with what is going on in the world.
  2. Amazon: In hopes that they can ship by parachute.
  3. Bloglines: To keep up with what’s happening in the blogosphere.
  4. Typepad: To send distress signals!
  5. CuteOverload: As an antidote to #1.

Which would you pick?

I don't think Amazon ships by parachute – better choose Project Gutenberg.

  2. Sylvia says:

Hi Henk! You're probably right. I might be tempted to choose the multimedia Bibliotheca Augustana instead, but Gutenberg would probably be the wiser choice.

I see your strategy. Pressdisplay provides daily motivation to stay on the island.

“I see your strategy. Pressdisplay provides daily motivation to stay on the island.” LOL!!
Amazon.com would be great for reading the first chapter of new books. You could also spend your time using the “Seach Inside this Book” feature to find “colorful metaphors.”

  5. Sylvia says:

I hadn't thought of that, wil, but it's a very good point.
    Colourful metaphors?
